I was diagnosed with diabetes six weeks ago and am still struggling to wrap my head around it. I was at the doctor for something completely unrelated when he discovered my high blood sugar. The next few weeks, as I went through various blood tests and met with different doctors I was in shock and denial. Thankfully, I found (through the help of Google and Yelp) a wonderful endocrinologist who has taken the time to really listen and explain things to me. While I still have a million questions (including if I have type 1 or 2), I’m slowly adjusting to my new glucose monitoring, carb counting, medication balancing life. And I’m learning something new every day.
